This course will provide you with an overview of pattern drafting and an introduction to construction. The class will cover all the essential skills needed in pattern drafting. We will begin by looking at the different methods to pattern making and learning how to take measurements. We will then use the basic bodice and skirt sloper (in size 10) to learn about pattern markings and seam allowance. We will also learn about fabrics and how they relate to different design lines, pattern layout, facings, basic construction techniques, seam finishes, dart stitching and pressing, and how to put in a zipper. These construction techniques will be applied to the bodice, and skirt. The final project will consist of drafting and constructing an original design.
