MediaFlux explores the mass media's bone-rattling transition from the tail end of the "analog" era to the ever-expanding digital ecosystem of today. We'll examine how Old Media-books, film/TV, radio, magazines-disappeared under a Cloud and were reinvented in an age of hand-held devices, rebooting cultural commerce and shaking established brands to the core. A brave new world of integrated, democratized experience? A freefall into a digital dystopia? MediaFlux grapples with these and other major tensions-privacy vs. convenience, piracy vs. fair use, competition vs. consolidation, news vs. mis- & disinformation-in a case-based, artist-centered seminar probing how audio/visual/textual content is conceived, shaped, distributed, paid for, and consumed in our rapidly evolving global marketplace of ideas.
