In "Bridges to the Afterlife" students will examine the different rituals performed among various cultures in caring for the deceased. Students also will address how the evolution of funerary practices has impacted the customs of the living society, including lifestyle, fashion, and public opinion. As part of class discussion, students will visit local Boston cemeteries, including a tour of Mount Auburn, to understand how caring for the deceased impacts our society today.
