This course is a discussion-based seminar in which students investigate how Native Americans and First Nations people have maintained their communities and asserted their individuality within the changing social conditions and geopolitical landscape of the United States and Canada. Through study of traditional and contemporary arts, poetry, short fiction, film, and legal and political texts, we explore Native American perspectives on life in the 21st century.
