This research-based seminar introduces students to a multi-generational group of modern and contemporary Native American artists to highlight their contributions, understand their background, as well as their individual cultural contexts. The seminar aims to address and assess, through the voices of Indigenous artists, curators, and scholars, why Native American artists of recognized trajectory remain relatively invisible within the American art establishment and globally, especially considering current efforts focused on achieving greater diversity and inclusion in the field.
